I’m working in your town near Lawrence for a few weeks. But my work hours are M-Th 5pm-3am, not quite ideal for any hanging out.

What’s there to see on the east side? Last time I was here it was January and too cold to go anything. What do you know about Fort Harrison state park?

Inspirational index card I had seen at this building last time I was here:

I’m just south of Lawrence.

Things you should do:

Cafe Heidelberg (German restaurant/gift shop/grocery)

Sloppy Joe and ice cream at Jimmie’s in Pendleton (looks like it’s open for lunch)

Yeast donuts & donut holes at Tim’s in McCordsville. Great donuts.

Didn’t intend to end that early, so more:

Falls Park in Pendleton

Fort Harrison park has some nice trails, also horseback riding might be an option there, never tried it

The Steer-In diner at 10th and Emerson gets visitors from around the world . Their stuffed pizza takes a half hour to prepare (you can order online in advance) and is pretty good.

Fall Creek Road is a nice hilly (really rare around here), curvy road you should drive up and down a few times while you’re here.

Rock-Cola on Brookville has very good grilled tenderloin sandwiches and Choc-O la

If you have time for a longer road trip, highway 52 towards Metamora is a pleasant drive, and the Bluebird in Morristown is a friendly place to eat. Also along the way is Frosty Boy, ice cream stand in New Palestine I’d recommend.

For a quirky urban curvy road with no particular redeeming qualities other than being a curvy road, Pleasant Run is interesting to drive down and get lost since it had two parts on either side of the river (well, stream) and frequently disappears.

Pogues Run park right off I-70 is a nice place to wander

Don’t know if it’s open during the day but Rustic Gardens is a really odd mini golf course. Long natural greens. Haven’t been there in years.

You’d probably enjoy browsing 4 Wheel Parts on the north side of L awrence

The downtown IMAX at the Indiana State Museum is one of the very few genuine 70mm screens. HUGE. Go see something there, they do all sorts of visually stunning documentaries during the day.

Broadway Diner in Fortville is friendly.

Ok, going to be late to work, will update with more ideas if I have ‘em.

I think it’s for a 44.

What kind/manufacturer? I have no idea how to identify it.

Maybe. My current locker situation is all kinds of messed up.

I’ll explain later this evening, I am finally on my road to Indy wait after waiting for parts to be fed asked

II will get it out of the carrier and see what kind of markings are on it.

You should check this out and let me know whether it’s worth a visit. Lived here for 20 years and have never made the effort.

Indiana State Police museum.

It’s funny you mention that as I was thinking about it last week, just looking over the google maps.

I am staying right over there and since it’s free admission I don’t see why not.

One of the hardest things to do working this shift is eating right, with out junk food.

About that locker, the tires I posted about last week, I took some to my buddies shop to separate the ones with rims still and that was sitting in their scrap pile, so someone more than likely did a gear swap and locker install like an arb, and I doubt he could sell it as used parts. It’s a bitch kinda to install these, but doable in a few hours on the ground by yourself.

What locker do you have currently?

I’ll take this one apart tomorrow and see if I can identify what it goes in.

I have the factory Rubicon locker up front.

In the rear is an Eaton e-locker which I had installed when my factory locker blew up and took my rear diff with it. They did a pretty crappy job wiring it in so I’ve been waiting for a chance to rework some of the wiring; currently it doesn’t work at all (and thus the front is useless because I can’t engage the rear).

The first Eaton stopped working after an hour of use, but fortunately they replaced that under warranty.

This Jeep is absolutely cursed.

Well this won’t help you at all as this replaces the spider gears of an open carrier.

Even if I was interested in replacing the front locker?

Not that it really  makes sense, given that I never use it.

From what little I know about stock rubicon Lockers is they aren’t set up like an open carrier, they got junk in there that makes them expensive.

Rewiring and electric locker can’t be that hard, says the guy who hasn’t driven his Jeep in over 10 years.

I’m stuck on getting the drift pin out from the carrier and center pin. I need a drift to punch it out.

I guess I’ll head to harbor freight tomorrow and see what cheap crap they got.

Yeah, the wiring should be straightforward but I have other electrical problems that are much more important that I don’t know how to tackle, so one crisis at a time.
